Montreal, March 14, 2008 – TransForce Income Fund, the leader in the Canadian transportation
and logistics industry, today announced that, through its waste management subsidiary Services
Matrec, it has completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% interest in the Parc Environnemental
AES landfill site. Matrec, an industry leader in Quebec, previously held a 50% partnership interest.
Located in Larouche, Québec, the landfill site has unique geological qualities that can provide
exceptional environmental protection while providing the capacity to receive solid waste from the
Saguenay and Lac Saint-Jean areas for more than 50 years. The site has the additional benefit of
having been designed to accommodate complementary activities such as composting, recycling and
the treatment and landfilling of contaminated soils.
“The purchase of this site will reinforce Matrec`s competitiveness in the Saguenay and Lac
Saint-Jean regions for a long time to come,” said Alain Bédard, Chairman of the Board, President
and CEO of TransForce. “Protection of the environment is paramount to the interests of both Matrec
and the local community. This site will be able to offer that protection while serving the regions’
long-term disposal needs.”
Over coming months, Matrec will actively promote the development of the site, which is currently underutilized.
